1. Service

TheCarApi provides programmatic access to multi-source vehicle auction inventory, images, market signals, and related tools under contract version 2026-08-19. The service is a data/query API — not a bidding or purchasing agent on source platforms.

2. Access & keys

Access requires a valid API key (header X-API-Key or Authorization Bearer). Keys are confidential, non-transferable without written consent, and may be revoked for abuse, bulk re-indexing beyond agreed limits, or security incidents. Site-origin GET bypass for public-read paths is for first-party site use and not a substitute for commercial API credentials.

3. Acceptable use

You may use responses to power lawful applications (inventory search, analytics, internal tools, marketplaces you operate). You must not overload the service, circumvent auth, resell raw feeds without a license that permits redistribution, or misrepresent data as originating solely from TheCarApi when source attribution is required.

4. Data accuracy

Inventory is aggregated from third-party auctions and may change or contain errors. Fill rates vary by field (e.g. VIN is sparse). We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of any single source. Public live counts and historical depth evolve over time.

5. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the API is provided “as is”. We are not liable for purchase decisions, shipping, duties, or bidding outcomes based on API data.
